Joe Budden Banned From Boston x Saigon Signs With Amalgam Digital (WTF!?)

So I’m lounging around the house, watching movies and relaxing. Gotta love that 2:30pm is the first time I hit the computer. Dope! First email I check is titled EDO.G bans JOE BUDDEN In Boston // SAIGON Signs With AMALGAM DIGITAL ??!? Interesting. Apparently Joe Budden disrespected Boston during a performance last Thursday. Peep the email blurb…

This past Thursday’s Joe Budden show in Boston almost ended with Joe Budden getting stomped by an angry mob of Boston goons. Edo. G, the show promoter, had to intervene to protect Budden from getting killed. JaySaun (of Special Teamz) is reportedly already hitting the lab to record a diss track to Budden – and everyone agrees – BUDDEN IS BANNED IN BOSTON! Edo. G Demands An Apology!

Now I wasn’t there, so who the fluck knows what really went down or how it went down. I really don’t know what to say. And that’s not even the end of the discussion topics. You saw Saigon’s name in the title. According to DJ Next, the Creative Director of Amalgam Digital, announced that they have signed Saigon. And they will be releasing 2 projects with him, including the All In A Day’s Work with Statik Selektah (which drops next week) and Warning Shots 2. What the flying fuck!? Big shouts to JumpTheTurnStyle for the exclusive audio. Now it’s up to ya’ll. What do the dopeboyz/girlz think about each situation?

  1. From what I understand, Budden was just askin for the stage to be cleared when he was performing so it wouldn’t be a sausage fest. Not that unreasonable.

And smh at Sai, to sign with Amalgan after all the shit he talked about them?

One more thing: When is Chillin dropping???

  2. paul pierce put the hit out

  3. That means more Budden diss records…..YAYYYY!!!! Dumb ass beef…

…and when is Chillin’ droppin lol

  4. 1) Edo G is a bum… the only good music he had featured premo on production, and who can fuck up a premo track?
    2) Edo G also stated if he wasn’t a promoter he would of done something… That’s bullshit, Edo G old ass was probably the first one walking off stage..
    3) If you didn’t do shit to him, why talk about after he leaves. Cause you’re scared of confrontation.
Note: I’m not a huge fan of Joey, I just hate when people try to act hard after the fact.

  5. Since were talking about kicking ass… Check out my post on 5 women that Chris Brown shouldn’t date cause they would’ve kicked his ass..

    http://www.nothinglessthanguess.com/2009/03/chris-brown-vs.html

  6. @ pudo
you said it perfectly cuz he should have addressed the situation right then and there not wait till the next day to go ranting on the blogs and shit

  7. Amalgam signing Saigon is just plain weird… they smart I guess cause they tryna get the publicity but still… weird.

As far as Budden getting banned in Boston, thats just unforunate lol I wonder what dude said.

  8. This shit gives more of a bad name to the Boston hip-hop scene then it already has. Wish heads would stop acting like bitches and embrace someone like Joe Budden signing to a Boston area label like Amalgam. Not feeling Edo and On &Ons moves on that one…another L for the local hip hop scene in the bean…Check for J.Cardim if yall want to hear how the Bean REALLY gets down.

  9. Damn saigon took a huge L for signing wit amalgam. esp all that beef he and joey had

  10. Why would you even wanna be on the stage if you’re not part of the show, so you can stand there and bump your head lol? It’s not that unreasonable to clear the stage…Sooo Boston and Saigon take L’s today lol…

  11. The thing is, Joe Budden has a job to do. When he get’s on stage he doesn’t want a bunch of people crowded around him for no reason especially if he doesn’t know them(who would)… He can’t ask them politely to leave the stage cause there is NO POLITE in HIP HOP. If you act nice you get walked all over…. Why were they onstage anyways? Did they wanna be his FLAVOR FLAV and hype the crowd up

  12. damn if you listn to this radio interview all these niccccas sound fuaackn retarted! boston, edo g, saigon, and definetely dj next should go killl themselves

  13. late.

  14. Grow up rappers. Things like this are one of the specific reasons why hip-hop gets no respect.

  15. i swear on every thing rappers are some of the most sensitive people in the world (no shots). It just amazes me how the most smallest things can ignite a “beef”

  16. lol at them talking shit.

    fact: no one did anything.

  17. how you going to ban someone from a city too? bet he goes back to boston whenever he wants.

  18. lmao the joe budden tv watchers getting all pissy because an actual legend Edo G has denounced buDDDens. Joe lost & Saigon lost for signing w/ a label he ripped Joe for being on. I’m looking forward to the album regardless though, it’s just ironic. Joe budden tv watchers have become insane, they will defend him no matter what he does. They’ve become lil wayne-level stanning. I like Joe as an emcee but Padded Room is awful and he’s acted like a clown for about a year now.

  19. Check out this clip of Joe Budden Tv; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGBGWuGsma0 (at the 3:50) mark. It seems like Joe Budden may have knew something a good 2 weeks ago. This shit is just lame though. really, trying to sign the artist Joe Budden was trading diss records with..smh Just when i thought cats couldn’t stoop any lower for publicity (see Rick Ross)…

  20. i’d ban joe budddens from the planet earth…dude is a waste of life

  21. he said get off the stage. he didnt say fuck boston and all people who live in boston.

and hellyeah, thats harsh lol. have a coke and a smile nigga.

  22. Lmao @ Edo G being a legend ahaha…

  23. How did Saigon take an L. He only signed to Amalgam to release All In A Days Work and the Warning Shots 2 mixtape. He ain’t releasing his real albums on there like Budden.

  24. First off…. I was there and performed with my boy M-Dot. We opened the set. So this isn’t a case of Bostonians being pissy but nobody, and I mean NOBODY has come out there face like he did when he got onstage. He said I don’t give a fuck who you are get off the stage if you aren’t with Joe Budden. All that’s unnecessary, it’s your record release, focus on your show and performing for your fans and let security and the promoters clear the stage which they WERE doing. Edo.G was on that stage, Craig G. another legend was there, you can’t just say shit like that to grown men thinking they ain’t gonna get upset. He was also pissed off cause he was having technical difficulties and he was taking it out on the DJ and staff at the place. It was unprofessional. Had he actually got on stage for his 2 hour set when he was supposed to, he could have done a sound check and cleared it all up. People waited for almost an hour for him to come on-stage. Heads were restless and as far as Edo.G goes he’s actually a nice dude but in Boston, people know he don’t play. If you ain’t from out here, you just don’t know so don’t even speak on it. He slapped somebody with a mic in the audience before Joe even came on, cause the dude was talking shit saying he sucks and he was just keeping the crowd calm cause Joey was taking forever. All this is unnecessary but Joey does owe an apology, his fuckin’ label is in Boston for Christ’s sake. You would think he’d show more love to his true supporters out here instead he was acting like a Diva.

  25. I miss Harper’s Ferry

  26. Oh and to top it off, he went over his time and said he wasn’t getting off stage even though the club had to close. And he was the one who was late in the first place. So he was kinda being that way with everyone. He did know about the Saigon signing so maybe we was crabby about that, I don’t know. I respect Joe Budden as an artist and lyricist but you gotta act right with people. Nothing is owed to anyone, specially not in hip-hop, you give respect to get respect. If Edo.G did that same shit in NY or NJ same shit would of happened.

  27. Harper’s Ferry is still around and still the shit lol Fivefold

  28. I can only base this on those pathetic BuddenTV clips and whatnot, but dude seems a little insecure. He hates people talking over him, he’s gotta be the loudest, and he seems to get a bit nasty when there is a conflict of opinion. Budden’s got a suspect personality.

  29. @Rev

I’m sure your a good guy and you didn’t mind people on stage while you were performing, but the most unprofessional thing, that most rappers do, is let a bunch of people(who don’t need to be there) crowd their stage while they’re performing.
The point is most of the people paid a ticket to see Joe Budden(not the people on stage behind them).. As far as Craig G and Edo G, I’m sure if they were the only two on stage he(Joe) wouldn’t have made the statement. I’m more then positive his statement was aimed at the crowd of nobody’s on stage that were with someone who belonged there…. Then all the no names got affended and tried to drag Edo G, Craig G and Boston in on their beef with him… Joe doesn’t owe Boston shit, just like Boston doesn’t owe Joe shit. People try and drag other people into their personal beefs too much…
I’m from Chicago, if Joe would’ve came here and said “get the fuck off of my stage”, I wouldn’t get upset cause it’s not directed towards me(or the fans). It was directed towards the group of people ON STAGE.
My point is, what he said was meant for the people on stage NOT BOSTON. So any beef should of stayed on stage, don’t drag the city in on it.

  30. This is some radio personality saying there is beef. obviously their is skewed. ” Hey get off the fucking stage. I’m trying to perform. you paid to see me perform so let me do my fucking job.” Boston Lost on this one.

  31. Situations like this are the reason hip hop, as a culture, will never get respect. Ed O.G. is about to be 40 years old, why is he acting like he just turned 18 and got a deal? Grow up and move on.

  32. On a side note though… Do you think Kanye’s girl is hot?
    Here’s my opinion
    http://www.nothinglessthanguess.com/2009/03/is-kanyes-girlfriend-amber-rose-hot.html

    what’s yours?

  33. pedo get off that internet rapper’s dick already

  34. and it doesn’t matter if these bums think Joey lost to saigon everybody on earth knows ( and I love saigon) saigon lost that that beef. I mean really lost that beef. and if this other bum ass rapper from saigon wants to jump in they can also get slayed by joey. no problem. Forget all of that. if your on stage when some your dumb ass paid money to see perform, then get off of the stage. If they are such grown men, and they get all pissy cause they are told to get off the stage , they sound more feminine than anything. You want shine on a Hip hop stage? Right some fucking impressive bars. Other than that bounce. Just another reason boston is completely ass. outside of Term, Reks, and Statik………

  35. ^^
    Terminology >>>>>>> Joe Budden (FACT)

  36. ^^^^ edit
    Termanology >>>>>>>> Joe Budden

  37. To Pudo: I am a nice guy, but I’m a man before all of that. I feel what you are saying but the people weren’t exactly on the stage, they were behind the DJ booth. Not drawing any attention away from the performer. And the fact is, everyone besides promoters and security were escorted off the stage. Promoters should be on stage cause it’s their job to make sure the show goes well. Edo.G was one of the promoters. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the beef shouldn’t even be an issue but he’s gotta respect the people paying him for the show. But it’s whatever, it happened. I’m not even being biased cause I’m actually originally from NY and was partially raised there, I’m just saying what I saw first hand and for me as a man, I wouldn’t have liked that said to me if I’m the one paying you. Plus Joey’s whole demenor was diva-esque. He even had the FANS waiting for an hour…while he was sitting in the back smoking and chillin. So to me, I feel that does deserve an apology for Boston, maybe not cause of the beef but cause of his unprofessionalism toward people HERE who paid good money to see him. But I guess I’ll agree to disagree lol.

And to Yo: that radio personality was the DJ that night, and was with Budden’s DJ working out the sound problems, which could have been done earlier had he come out on time. And as far as shining on stage Edo and Craig G wasn’t trying to shine, neither were any of the other performers, they just wanted to watch the set, like having VIP, I mean they deserve that much. They were off in the background not even on the real stage. It’s like that every show, and no other performer, including some of the most thoro dudes like Cormega, Freeway, Styles P, and M.O.P ever complained when heads were chillin in the back….they just did what they were paid for and had a good time. But once again, you have your opinion, I’m just telling you what really went on cause I was there. I’ll agree to disagree. I will still listen to Budden, just think he was outta pocket on that night.

  38. To Pudo
    Termanology >>>>>>>> Joe Budden
    =Hang yourself.
To Rev, I hear. We’ll agree to disagree.

  39. I see some positives on this and some negatives, First Joey this city is not the place to disrespect artists that are out there trying to make it. Padded Room is not really that hot, I like some of it but its not a classick. But how are you gonna come into Boston and say those things. To the people calling out Edog like that he was more concerned over his business and the flow of the evening which was messed up By Budden, By no means is he a punk he just was thinking like a mature individual. I’m no Dickrider but I just recognize a respectful person trying to intervene in a unwanted unprepared situation. This can mark the beginning of the end of Joey’s career (which already doesnt have the commercial success) but it also makes the label that supports put under a bad umbrella (No Rihanna Puns Please), Not to mention your rival Saigon is now a member of the AD family. Living in Boston as a New York native I would never ever jump on a stage and disrespect the DJ. Promoter, audience that paid to see u perform and quote on quote disrespect the people on stage for no reason. You were there to perform give the audience lyrics and a hot performance while promoting your album (ummm padded room) instead you turned it in to a Jayzesque takeover like platform (Minus the poise and power that HOV has). Not a good for you Joey and I think you owe Hip Hop an Apology….

  41. To: yo!!!
You should stop listening to Hip Hop if you think Joe Budden is better then Termanology… I give props where props are due and Joe can’t hang with Term lyrically on his(Joe) best day… I doubt many people will disagree.

    To: DJ Daz-One
I don’t believe Edo G is a punk. However, I do believe he was committing a cowardly act by saying that Joe “would have caught it” if he wasn’t a promoter of the show. Edo G should’ve never made that statement cause 1) It was after the fact and 2) He never said anything to Joe personally. Whether your really tough or not isn’t the issue, so why mention what you would do if you never did anything?
As far as what Joe said… If you listen to the audio Dj Next quotes Joe as saying “All ya’ll WHO DON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SHOW get the F off the stage”… Now correct me if I’m wrong but that doesn’t even include EDO G cause he was the promoter.

  42. i think this is a little ridiculous…some shit clearly happened but whose to say budden is BANNED from Boston? Fact is very few people were at the show for people to be bringing an entire city in to question. as far as the divaesque behavior, thats too bad but not necessarily anything to be surprised about in hip hop though, i understand the complaints and whatnot but the whole thing seems blown way out of proportion (another unfortunate hip hop cliche)

  44. Just Blaze is definitely saying Saigon didnt sign to Amalgam Digital, something fishy here

  45. Joe Budden is head n shoulders>>>>Termanology

and i say that as a Term fan.in my eyes Term peaked on Watch How It Go Down, no song he ever records will compare to that one.

  46. Check that his twitter if you got it…

  47. lol, chill

  48. Fuck that. When it’s X artist time to perform on stage it’s time for everyone else to get the hell off stage. Fuck these Boston “legends” with big egos thinking they can stay on the sage when it’s dedicated to someone else. The situation sounds like a bunch of old cats got their egos hurt by Budden’s request and is now venting. Fuck’em.

I don’t even like Budden. Plus, I’m a Saigon fan and he takes a major L for two things:

    1. Dissing Budden for Amalgam digital
    2. Budden telling him to take control of his destiny then Saigon talking about taking control of his destiny post Budden diss

  49. @Pudo

    (sigh)

  50. sai has only signed on for the statik selektah and WS2 jawns right?? Makes sense, considerin his mixtapes are better than most cat’s albums, might as well make some coin off them.

  51. SOULJA BOY >>>>>> BUDDEN + TERMY + SAIGON

  52. nah im just playin, its early april fools

  53. “How is he lyrical this coward is pitiful//
Talk about he doing it big on Amalgam Digital”
    -Saigon,Pushin’ Buddens

  54. joe budden ›› term
its ez 2 decided what body of work has term put out that’s was bttr than mood muzik 2 or 3. even tho padded room could of been bttr is still bttr than politics as usaul (a disappointment 2 a fan who waited 4 a term album).
greatest story never told took an L. so did underground independent hip hop!!! beefin over some bullshit.

  55. I agree with justin joe budden fans have become unbearable hes a very good MC but hes a fucking drama queen he always clownin and you cant say its not him because nobody else has near as much drama as this fucking dude. get over your ego budden your good but just make music and chill the fuck out

  56. Best things out of Boston Are Term, Statik, J The S, Slaine and Gwop Gang. All this beefing shit is corny though.

  57. Enough about Joe…. How do ya’ll feel about that new Brother Ali?
    Check it out below
    http://www.nothinglessthanguess.com/2009/03/brother-ali-baby-dont-go.html

  58. If Joe is being a diva than so is Edo for getting on the radio to air out this shit. Talk about being professional, homie looks like a clown gettin on the radio the next day talking about “goonies with thangs on em” who did NAYTHIN when they were right there. I’ve been to many shows in Boston and all over and its a rarity than any show starts on time. Since when has any rapper been on-time and drama free (Lupe is the only I seen)? Edo is a grown dude, he needs to stop acting like a freshman. He has no power to ban people from the city GTFOH. He’s a rapper who stopped making money so he’s promoting now, WTF does that tell you?? He’s mad.

  59. I’ll put it like this. You have artist such as Lupe or Wale that have legends Like Jay for instance come to their shows. You know where Jay is at those shows? He’s not on the stage, or anything like that. He is in his fucking seat because IT ISNT HIS SHOW. Now if someone as big as that can do that maybe the “Legend” Edo G can just chill.

  60. Fuck yeah man, Boston will str8 eat Joe Budden alive man

No joke Boston cats arond the way do not fuck around, Budden does not want it with Jaysuan and that whole regime from that area not a good look

It just continues to prove dude is a lame

  61. I was there.

  62. blah…all this is boring me because there is good music to be heard on both sides and we still talking about beef. It sucks cause Boston does take the L for all this negativity. We do have talent out here man and this gives Boston Hip-Hop a black eye. Dope cats like Reks, Akrobatik, Term, Krumb Snatcha, my boy M-Dot (check him out, he was a 2dope2SleepOn Alum and we performed that night)

    http://2dopeboyz.com/2009/03/04/m-dot-gotta-be-f-krumbsnatcha-video/

  63. wow how pathetic, trying to beat up/kill/ban someone in boston just because they wanted the stage clear so they could have room to breathe while they did their job, I’m pretty sure if it was a much bigger well known artist like Eminem or Jay-Z and they said to clear the stage, the crowd would’ve fled no issues at all, damn hypocracy.

  64. Edo G. a legend? Let’s keep that word in perspective people. Edo G. might be a Boston emcee that’s been around and reppin for a good minute but a legend he is not. Go walk up and down the streets of Boston and do a random survey of people and I bet you money a good percentage don’t even know who the fuck he is, let alone consider him a legend. Dude ain’t even that nice lyrically. That Edo G. & The Bulldogs album was not dope. Sorry but just because he’s got some tenure in the game does not make him relevant still.

  65. Budden IS known to say w/e the fuck is on his mind at shows lol….I remember when he was on that Hard Rock Cafe joint on MTV and he was kirkin cause niggas wasn’t getting amped….Stand up for what you believe in…to get beat down lmfao…cot damn.

  66. So this is what my dude was talking about.

Not going to speculate because I wasn’t there (and the on-air talk was wild biased), but this is a whole lot of nonsense that the scene doesn’t need. Beef has been detrimental to the Boston scene since the early 90’s.

SMH @ Edo G. bragging about who has been beat down coming here.

Regardless, Edo. G = Legend. Just because most younger hip-hop fans don’t recognize him doesn’t take away from his legendary status. Would you make the same argument about a Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, or Kool G Rap? No, so thank you.

I’m not gonna lie. Beef is no way to strengthen a scene. Real wack. We got to do better.

Scene took a loss. But the AD label ftw in this whole PR storm.

We need to be worried about rockin’ dope shows, not exchanging (seemingly telegraphed) blows.

  67. @MISTA23

I wouldn’t make the same argument about Kane, Ace or G. Rap, because those 3 are actual legends who have put out legendary albums. Edo G. has not done that. He put out one album that worth a damn and that was 16 years ago.

  68. @Steve_O

Regardless dude deserves a certain level of respect, and we shouldn’t judge rap vets based off of how kids (I’m 19 and saying this) know the music. Based on how commercial and disposable the climate of the game is today, asking the youth shouldn’t determine someone’s status in the game.

Most younger people don’t care to learn the older music.

You can’t say he hasn’t made any other good music throughout the rest of his career. I’m not up on his catalog like that, but My Own Worst Enemy w/ Pete Rock was fire.

We can disagree on whether he’s a legend or not. But, we can all say his impact on the scene has been crucial and he deserves respect.

  69. Well in my opinion, Edo G. is acting like a bitch. The fact that he’s been in the game as long as he has, and has made an impact in the Boston hip-hop scene is even more a reason to act the exact opposite of how he is right now.

And I’m not really sure where the young people are coming from in your argument. I never said the young people on the streets don’t know him. I’m saying ask ANY person on the streets about Edo G. and most of them regardless of age are gonna give you a confused look.

  70. @Steve_O

I’m definitely not siding with anyone, and I don’t like Edo’s approach of beef, because plain and simple that’s not what the scene needs.

That was the main point I wanted to get across.

I assumed most people out in the streets who wouldn’t know him meant the younger generation. I know a good amount of older cats (30+) who know him, but my circle is mostly hip hop heads.

I see people not knowing the history of their own music scene as a problem. We do a large amount of hating here, and part of that comes from not respecting the history and contributions to hip-hop coming from our own backyard.

  71. I wasnt there but I’m very familiar wit the whole scene in Boston….thats corny these niggas trying to ban Budden…..how you really gonnna try to speak for a whole city…90% of the crowd is burb ass college kids anyway….I feel Joe for tellin niggaz to get THE FUCK OFF THE STAGE…..these pee on openers stay trying to get more shine when the real act shows up…tryin to chill in the back room wit the dudes dickridin like some bitches or yellin on the mic between sets….NO ONE IS THERE TO SEE YOU!!! YOU JUST PAYIN FOR THE HEADLINER
and all this after talk can be takin as nothing being said at all, cuz its after…..that shit dont exist because nothing happened…..banned from Boston….BANNED?!?! come on, you Mayor Menino now

Term can hold a candle to Joey
    Joey killed Sai
Craig G and Edo G are NOT LEGENDS(Big L, Jay-Z, Biggie, Pac, Pun, Nas…can we be fo real)
only Beantown legends are fuckin Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, and Mike….

  72. LOL @ Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, and Mike. Nobody can deny their place in the game.

Dude deserves respect. Scene needs an upgrade. Nuff said.

  73. Beef is now over, Joe called in to Boston’s Jam’N 94.5 and he spoke his side and it’s all squashed. The interview was actually 2 seperate interviews the DJ pieced together and kept all the shit talking and none of the positive. So there it is, fuckery at it’s best and this one dude ruins the work this city put in with Hip-Hop over the past couple years. Sucks.

  77. LOL @ mazzto saying Craig G ain’t a legend….Juice Crew ring a bell homie? do your homework…if you a budden fan, Juice Crew was the Slaughterhouse of it’s time. And as far as the openers, there were good acts there that night. Everyone gotta start somewhere, Joe Budden was an opener at one time I’m sure. So stfu and stop hatin’ the beef is dead now. And if I’d like to see you G it in one of the roughest parts in Boston and see if you pop your gums like that

  78. everyone that is siding with edo g is a fucking idiot.
